Industry

Mining and metals

Machine vision turns an industrial process into measurable data: equipment condition, crushing quality, vehicle loading and people's safety – in real time and on your infrastructure.

Challenges we address

  • Unplanned downtime caused by belt wear and oversize.
  • Subjective, by-eye assessment of parameters.
  • Spot checks of haul trips.
  • Manual accounting of bulk materials.
  • Risks to staff in hazardous areas.

Use cases

Monitoring of moving conveyor belts

Continuous monitoring of the belt surface and splices, damage, misalignment and narrowing. The defect's position along the belt, a belt map and a digital belt passport. A stop signal on a critical event, integration with process control systems. No stoppages for inspection.

Fragmentation and oversize

Analysis of ore size distribution on the conveyor without stopping the line. Results go to the operator console, with recommendations for crusher settings.

Bulk material volume

Measurement on the conveyor and in the stockyard from video and lidar data. A measurement archive and comparison over time.

Truck load completeness

Every trip is checked: truck identification, 3D scanning of the body, photo and video records, dispatcher notification. The decision is made without an operator.

Flotation monitoring

Video analysis of froth structure and dynamics.

AI core logging

Depth referencing, lithotypes, fracturing, ore intervals, a digital log and archive; re-logging of historical archives. Metal content cannot be determined from photos: the system flags intervals for laboratory assays, and a geologist checks the results. Also – analytics for exploration and drilling.

Underground mine safety

Body-worn cameras, automatic video review against occupational safety scenarios, events linked to staff location.

Industrial safety

PPE, hazardous and restricted areas, falls, fires at an early stage, thermal imaging monitoring of equipment.

Access and vehicles

Face-based access, automated vehicle entry.

Result

  • Less unplanned downtime.
  • Decisions on equipment settings based on data, not estimates.
  • Objective records for every trip and every volume.
  • Staff safety under constant monitoring without extra inspectors.
  • Works on existing cameras.

Delivery

On-premise within the company's perimeter, including isolated networks; integration with process control systems, SCADA and enterprise systems. A pilot on a selected site → full-scale deployment.

Platform

One platform instead of a patchwork of systems

MU Platform brings video surveillance, video analytics, biometrics, access control, transport, mobile sources and IoT together in a single monitoring and management environment. The platform is vendor-independent: it connects equipment and analytics from different suppliers through a single API, scales with your infrastructure and runs wherever you need it – on your servers, in the cloud or in a hybrid setup.

  • Vendor independence
  • Modularity – add functions without replacing infrastructure
  • A single view of events for decision-making

Case studies

    • Mining and metals
    • Machine vision

    Mining: conveyor belt monitoring

Cameras and laser scanners above the belt detect surface and splice defects and pinpoint them on the belt. The belt is monitored continuously, with no stoppages for inspection.

    Pilot
    • Mining and metals
    • Deep learning

    Exploration: AI core logging

Photos of core boxes referenced to depth, identification of rock types, fractures and ore intervals; a geologist checks the results.

    Pilot deployment

How we work

  1. Defining the task

We analyze the customer's process and define scenarios and control points.

  2. Pilot

We run the scenario on real data and existing infrastructure.

  3. Full-scale operation

We scale the solution and connect related systems.

  4. Development and support

We update modules, add scenarios and provide ongoing support.

Engagement models: turnkey project, module licensing, subscription, service model.
